Fall-ing in Love With Coats

Folks! Here in the windy streets of Chicago, the cold is ‘cozying’ it’s way into our homes and settling right under our skin. Man it’s cold! Plus it’ll get worse before it gets better. Since we have no current power to change the weather to our benefit, we need to dress our skin and bones in protective layers until the weather does us right!

I’ve been fattening my eyes with some window shopping for the fall, and I wanted to share some of my recent findings with you all! There are so many types of coats and jackets, so I hope you find one that will treat you right and keep you warm in this weather!

From the sheep to your body!

Fashion: Haulin’ some Accessories!

Hola mis amigas! After finding out I’ll be going back to work on Monday (yaay), naturally I went shopping to prepare! My office environment is super casual and easy going, thank God! I bought some clothing pieces, but these accessories are too cute not to share!

The shoes are from Payless, the bag is from Ross and the knobs are from Dressbarn!

Have you been shopping lately? What do you like to shop for? Or do you not like to shop?

Be happy and healthy my loves!

Closet BasicsΒ

My style has evolved over the years as I have matured, but it hasn’t been a drastic change. These days my closet is filled with either super colorful or very simple pieces which gives me the best of both worlds. Ideal πŸ™‚

Even though I adore colorful patterns and prints, there are a few basic staples in my wardrobe that carry me successfully through all seasons. These are things that I would spend a little more on to ensure I get the best quality so they last me throughout the years. As with all of my advice, take away what you like and can help you.

White and Grey T-shirt

I currently have 4 grey t-shirts and 2 white t-shirts in my closet, and I have no shame about it. I find that throwing on a t-shirt and jeans is one of the easiest ways for me to get dressed quickly and out of the house when I don’t feel like dressing up. I chose white and grey because I love the neutral colors they go amazing with all washes of jeans. If you don’t like t-shirts, then I suggest a blouse or a structured shirt like a dress shirt with short sleeves or long if you prefer.

white tee

If even I can wear them, you can too!

Do I really need to say anything? Well maybe for those in the back who don’t like jeans. There was a period during university where I stopped wearing jeans and only wore leggings, but I am now a firm jeans wearer. I currently only wear super skinny jeans because I love the silhouette. I love snug jeans from my ankle up to my waist. For the right occasion, however, I will make an exception and wear bootleg jeans when I’m going for a boho look.

I’m currently going on job interviews so I need to have a pair of dress pants ready to go. Even if your work environment is casual, it’s always a good idea to have a pair for any event or life change that may come up unexpectedly. Ensure that it’s well-fitting and can be paired with a shirt or blouse for a formal or semi-formal look.

Dresses are my favorite article of clothing, hands down! There are so many styles and trends to choose from so I am positive one is out there for you! Unless you aren’t as enamored by dresses as I am, which is totally fine. I love the freedom and lack of effort afforded by dresses. You can just throw it on, accessorize if you want, pick a shoe and go! No coordination of top and bottom required. In this summer heat, I need my legs and arms free to roam so dresses are my weapon of choice.

Strapless bra

This has been a recent acquisition of mine. This is a summertime must for those of us who don’t mind baring some skin during the warmer months. Even though it is primarily for strapless clothing, I wear it with regular clothing because it provides such amazing support, and the added straps allow it to multi-task.

The joke is that I can’t ride a bike lol

Most days I find myself reaching for my pair or grey canvas sneakers when i’m out and about running errands or out for leisure. Sneakers of any kind are essential to my wardrobe. They’re perfect for extended standing or walking like going to the mall, the park, the fest or even work. Not to mention during workouts both outside and in the gym.

Some days we need more support, and some days we need less, so flats, whether ballet flats or sandals, are essential. I have flat feet, so I go for shoes that have a little more support with a sliver of a heel. Sandals are great for when our little piggies need to be free and in the open air.

Thrifting in my own Closet: Summer Dresses

Hello everyone! Today I have a few dresses from my closet to display. As you can tell from my other blog posts, I love dresses. These three dresses are only connected by the fact that I own them, but they serve a purpose and I love them.

Sleeveless Stripes

I met this little number at Gap sale either 2 or 3 years ago. There I was, sifting through the racks, trying to find something to catch my attention Flipped through the blouses, the pants then onto the dress section where I first laid eyes on this striped wonder. She caught my eye, and left the store with me that very day. She’s simple and feisty all at the same time. I love this dress for simple and casual, as well as formal with the right accessories. Β … p.s. I probably should have ironed it before the photo O.o my bad

Wrapped Metric

Wrap dresses and tops have become super popular Summer ’17, but I’ve been rocking a wrap dress long before then. I honestly have no idea how old this is, but I’m glad I found it. Somehow such a bold print seems simple to me, which might be a result of the colors and the style of the dress.Β I’ve worn this out to run errands, to have a good time or even to work with a matching camisole.

Floating Abstract

I found this summer breeze at Kohls in the sale section sometime last year. As soon as I picked it from the rack, I knew it would fit me so I was appalled when the tag was marked ‘medium’. All the same, it works great on me and I love this free flowing number for days when I want to be ultra-comfortable. This is a go-to movie theater or picnic dress for me since I can move freely in such a soft fabric. I love the print, and did I mention it has pockets?! Perfect!

Thrifting in my Closet: 3 Summer Dresses – Same style, different patterns

Hello my beautiful friends! I started a series a while back where I find clothes that I love in my closet to feature instead of buying new items in an effort to curb my spending habit.

If you love shopping and clothes as much as I do, you know the struggle! O.o

Anyhoo, I dove into my closet and here’s what I found πŸ™‚

A few years ago I went to a end of year Old Navy sale and went ham! It was such an amazing sale; a thing of dreams. p.s. Old Navy and Gap are my OG favs.

I love these simple cami dresses that I can throw on and go, so much so I bought 3 different patterns. They are a bit on the short side because I am 5’11, but with a good dose of self-confidence, i’ll rock these bad boys any day (except when it’s windy lol). Also, shout out to my strapless bra for always having my back.

I usually don’t do too much when styling them. A simple bucket bag, my pearl knobs and some sandals or keds depending on my pedicure situation.

Thrifting in my Own Closet: So Many Pairs of Black Shoes

Hello my beautiful friends! Today I want to share a little about my apparent obsession with black shoes. I was looking through my closet today and realized that most of my shoes are black. Now, six pairs might not be a lot for most people, but I don’t own many pairs of shoes. I guess they go with most of my clothes, so at least they’re practical.

I am the living embodiment of impulsive shopping. I may have a similar item, or I don’t need it, but if I like, it’s coming home with me. That’s part of the reason I’ve stopped shopping or even looking around online and in stores because I don’t have an income at the moment. Prevention is better than cure! I’m sure someone out there understands the struggle!

I was on the hunt for a pair of Chelsea Boots for a couple months! I even bought a men’s pair from Asos because no where else had it in my size and didn’t expect me to pay with a kidney and half my liver. I found these from Target for only $25. I loved these shoes, but they were so uncomfortable. I had to remove the soles so my feet could fit, but that may the shoe supper thin and it was still a little tight. I was so hard-headed. I wouldn’t give up on it! Plus it looked so amazing with my outfits! Being gawgus hurts, okay …

p.s. In the colder months, jeans become my second skin πŸ™‚Β

These bad boys came home with me when I started working at Target overnight. (My feet disintegrated after standing, bending and lifting continuously for 8 hours each night so I stopped working there). I bought these at Kohls for $60. They don’t provide a ton of support, but they’re comfortable for exercise and daily use.

These babies are either a year or two years old. I don’t quite remember, but they were cheap and are still comfortable. Simple black sandal with a 1 inch heel for any occasion.

I bought these the same summer I bought the pair above. They were from Payless and were probably on sale. They’re very comfortable. Not much more to say about them.

I got these shoes maybe 4 years ago from Macy’s for $20 ish dollars. They were originally 65 dollars O.o ? Sad thing is, I haven’t worn them!! I bet if I had spent more, they would be on my feet 24/7.

This is the newest addition to this little obsession I have going. They were around $15 from Payless. I love them!!! I’m currently going on interviews and these have been my go-to shoes. So beautiful and easy to walk in, but a pain to get out of when you get home. The cute factor cancels all that though; I still love them.

Do you have any collections happening within your closets? Let me know!

As always, be happy and healthy!!!

Thrifting From My Own Closet ; From Old to New

I went shopping in my own closet again! Good option for those of us who love to shop for fun, so we can save our coin!

It’s the season for skirts and hairless legs, so I’m pumped! Here are 3 patterned pieces which I have loved and will continue to love for warm seasons to come!
